Autumn Gardening with Mum this Mothers Day

The weather is cooler and Mother's Day is just around the corner- now is the perfect time to get stuck into the garden with your mum to plant some memories together!

Despite the lower temps, there is still plenty of amazing herbs, veggies and flowers that can be grown throughout in the Vegepod so here are our top things to do:

Plant cooler season veggies

Luscious leafy veggies like silverbeet, kale, Lettuce, Asian greens (e.g. Bok Choy, Pak Choi) and larger longer harvest veg like mini cabbages, broccoli and cauliflower are ideal for cooler weather planting. Interplant with quick cropping radishes and rocket to get more out of your harvest and choose dwarf varieties so you can pack more into your Vegepod. Get growing so you and mum can create some yummy meals together!

Plant Spring bulbs

Although the Vegepods are made for growing herbs and veg, now is a great time to add some pretty spring bulbs which will provide some gorgeous colour! Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, anemones and much more come in a variety of colours and fragrances- ideal for creating some cut flower displays together with Mum or to surprise her with a bunch

Get your Garlic in!

Growing garlic is an investment in time and space in your Vegepod but absolutely worth it when you're able to use your homegrown buttery cloves in a lamb roast! Garlic is easy to grow, requires very little care and is packed full of Vitamin C- so grab Mum for a garden centre shopping trip, buy some garlic bulbs and get growing.

Sensational Sweet Peas

Sweet Peas are gloriously fragrant and now is the time to get them in for spring! Vegebags allow plenty of room for sweet peas to thrive, all you have to do is put a trellis for them to climb and flower on. Although not edible, they will shine come spring when you can fill a vase for Mum with the heady sweet pea fragrance and colour.
